ON THE WORLD’S SHORE
REIDAR SÄRESTÖNIEMI 100 YEARS
8.2.–1.6.2025

The centenary exhibition of the artist presents Särestöniemi's art through his special connection with nature – he felt being one with nature, merging with the fells and the fens and transforming himself into a willow ptarmigan or a lynx.
For Särestöniemi, the connection with nature was an exploration of the self. The cycle of the seasons is strongly present in his works - by painting, the artist celebrated the joy of spring on the one hand and defended himself against the dark winter on the other.

« We hope that our museum will remain the home of everything beautiful: art, architecture, nature and music and that it will give others as much joy as it has given us »
