COLLECTION HIGHLIGHTS

THE DIDRICHSEN COLLECTION

INTERNATIONAL VISUAL ARTS

The Didrichsen Art Museum´s collections consist in total of one thousand artworks. A selection of the works are put on display in conjunction with the changing exhibitions and some 15 sculptures are on permanent display in the sculpture park. The exhibition programme at the museum focuses mainly on changing exhibitions with themes that correlate with the collections. Every few years there are exhibitions solely based on the collections.

On the advice of architect Viljo Revell the Didrichsen couple acquired the sculpture Reclining Figure on Pedestal by British sculptor Henry Moore in 1961 to grace the courtyard. This was the beginning of a growing interest towards international modernism. Pioneers of modernism, such as Wassily Kandinsky and other masters from the 20th century from Salvador Dalí to Pablo Picasso, inspired the Didrichsens to indulge in their interest towards the arts. The collection holds works by

Joan Miró, Fernand Léger, Alberto Giacometti, Mark Rothko and Jean Arp, to name a few.
